Hello, I’m Maria Sachs and I would like to welcome you to my website. Depending on how I can help you, feel free to browse through the various folders.
As with most women, I wear many hats.
First, I am a daughter to a retired LtCol. Russell F. Lorts (dec.) and Anna Lonigro Lorts. My dad served in the Army infantry division, World War II, first in the North African Theatre, and later, in the European Division with the Landing at Salerno, Italy. He was awarded two Purple Hearts for his bravery and a special recognition for the construction of a recreation site for our Allied Forces in Southern France. My mom is from Naples, Italy where she met my dad during the “Occupation of Italy”. She raised all four of us children plus my uncle Aldo as a stay-at-home mom. My parents taught me the values of hard work, respect for family, and above all, patriotism for our country.
I am also a wife to Peter Sachs, the founding partner of Sachs, Sax & Caplan, PA, a real estate and business law firm. Peter’s family were refugees during World War II and he was born in Berlin, Germany during the post-war era of Occupied Germany. A graduate of Queen’s College and Fordham Law School, Peter has been practicing law as an av rated attorney for more than thirty years.
As a mother, I am proud of my three children, Natasha Valentina, a graduate of Johns Hopkins University (Baltimore, Maryland), Marcello Jude, a student at Brown University (Providence, Rhode Island), and Taylor Giuliano of University of Maryland (College Park). All three were born at Bethesda Hospital in Boynton Beach and attended local schools, each excelling in different areas. Natasha is blessed with a classical voice and has sung at many veterans’ events, international summits, and vocal competitions. Marcello’s artistic talent led him to paint a large scale mural at the Juvenile Detention Center in West Palm Beach. Taylor’s athletic abilities on the lacrosse field helped his school become number one in the State for the last five years. I also had the privilege of helping to raise two beautiful daughters, Tana, a mom of three children and a brilliant lawyer practicing at the office of Mark J. Maynor in West Palm Beach, and Jessica, a special child at the Jewish Association of Residential Care (JARC).
As an advocate, I pursued a law degree at the University of Miami and served as an Assistant State Attorney with Janet Reno, and later, with Michael Satz, specializing in juvenile law and crimes against the elderly. I then practiced with Ruden, Barnett, McCloskey, Schuster, & Russell PA in Fort Lauderdale before opening my own law firm in Palm Beach County.
As a legislator, I have the privilege, since 2006, of representing the people of three beautiful cities: Boca Raton, Delray Beach, and Boynton Beach. District 86 encompasses the diversity that is representative of all Florida. It is a true honor and privilege to be the advocate for the people of D86, especially in these most challenging times. |
